Abstract:
The aim of the study was evaluation of flower differentiation and flowering of primocane fruiting raspberry 'Polka' (Rubus idaeus L.) and 'Gazda' floricane fruiting blackberry (Rubus L. subgenus Rubus Watson). Flower differentiation in 'Polka' on first-year canes started at the beginning of May 2006, in the terminal buds of the cane and ended in mid-July, in buds situated at the middle zone of the cane.
Flower initials on the first-year 'Gazda' cane blackberry was first seen at the end of July 2006, in the middle part of the cane.
After stamens and carpels were differentiated, the flower development ceased and the plant entered winter dormancy.
Further flower development stages started in April 2007, on the second-year cane.
