ISHS Acta Horticulturae 89: Symposium on Water Supply and Irrigation

TRICKLE IRRIGATION TIMING AND ITS EFFECT ON SOIL WATER CONTENT

Author:   J. Ben-Asher
DOI:   10.17660/ActaHortic.1979.89.21
Abstract:
A mathematical model which describes the flow of water within a volume element of a field irrigated by a point source is used to simulate evapotranspiration and the effect of irrigation timing, by comparing day and night irrigation. The results suggest that under equivalent external conditions, the rate of evapotranspiration was higher after day irrigation than after night. As a result, water use efficiency is much lower for night than for day irrigation.
