Abstract:
Investigations were performed during the period 2007–2008 in the ‘Maritsa’ Vegetable Crops Research Institute, Plovdiv. Nine garden pea lines were studied. The cultivar ‘Tsitrina’ was used as a control. The purpose of the present study was to establish the morphological and technological characters and productivity of new garden pea lines and their eventual implementation into production or their use in breeding process as donors of valuable qualities. According to the obtained experimental data new garden pea lines could be classified to the late cultivar group. Lines set over 50% by 3 and 4 pods per a pedicle. The average grain size was 7–8 mm. The predominant fractions were 6–7mm, 7–8 mm and 8–9 mm – over 80%. This defines these lines as small-grains. The most perspective is line L 15263, followed by L 1527 and L 1521, which exceed by yield the control – ‘Tsitrina’ with 65%, 51% and 48%.
