Abstract:
Four microbial products Trichoderma viride (T. Stanes & Co. Ltd., India), Trichoderma harzianum (TR 002) (Koppert Biological systems BV, The Netherlands), Pseudomonas fluorescens (T. Stanes & Co. Ltd., India) and Bacillus subtilis FZB24 (FZB Biotechnik GmbH, Germany) were separately incorporated into plant sub¬strates, 100% fertilized peat and composted bark. Trials were carried out in greenhouses with primula (Primula vulgaris) and begonia (Begonia semperflorens), cultivated in pots filled with substrates. Further, salt stress was applied by irrigating with different concentrations of nutrient solutions with EC levels varying from 1.5 to 4.5 dS m-1. Several plant parameters such as fresh and dry weight, number of leaves, leaf area were recorded. The substrates had a significant effect on plant parameters. The EC of the nutrient solution had also an effect on plant composition, dry matter content, fresh and dry weight and on the number of leaves. The effects of the microbial additives were not consistent, which is in accordance with other experiments in the literature.
