Abstract:
By using the coat protein gene of WMV-2, and replicase genes of ZYMV and CMV, a trivalent expression vector was constructed for transformation of watermelon plants with Agrobacterium tumefaciens. The transgenes were confirmed in progenies of T1, T2 and T3 generations by PCR-Southern blot analysis.
By mechanical inoculation in greenhouse and field trial, the transgenic lines showed resistance to virus infections in relatively high level and the resistant transgenic line BH-1 was selected successfully.
