Abstract:
Steps of regeneration process was monitored from strawberry leaf inocules by scanning electronmicroscopy. Both somatic embryogenesis and organogenesis occurred in high frequency on modified MS medium. Very strict morphological differences can be observed between the two types of regeneration. In case of somatic embryogenesis, the proembryos are initiated from single mesophyll cells and break through the epidermis. Organogenesis starts from a group of cells and the forming shoot primordia are covered by the original leaf epidermal cells and cuticle.
