Abstract:
Although minerals were initially supplied at four levels (de Fossard, 1976) in the soluble form in the constant solution culture system, a considerable amount of some minerals such as Ca, Fe and P easily precipitated after preparation.
The rate of solubility was not directly proportional to their concentration in the solution culture media.
The patterns of solubility differed between individual elements.
The highest rate of solubility occurred for K, Na, and S. In contrast, the lowest proportion occurred for P, Fe and Ca especially at high concretion (x 2) either at pH 5 (FePO4) or pH 6.5 (CaPO4). After one week of preparation of basal de Fossard medium in a constant system, this medium had lost 20% of its original Fe, 10% of Zn and 15% of P due to precipitation of minerals.
