Abstract:
A pear rootstock trial was established at 14 locations throughout the USA and Canada in 1988. The trial evaluated the influence of 8 rootstocks: ‘Bartlett’ seedling, Pyrus betulifolia, Pyrus calleryana, Quince C and ‘Old Home’ x ‘Farmingdale’ clones 40, 217, 333, 339, and 519 on the horticultural performance of several scion cultivars including ‘Anjou’, ‘Bartlett’, ‘Bosc’, ‘Comice’, ‘Harrow Delight’ and ‘Maxine’. Trunk cross sectional area, cumulative yield and cumulative yield efficiency data from Arkansas, Colorado, Oregon (MCAREC and SOREC) in the USA and Harrow, Ontario in Canada are summarized.
