Abstract:
A simple method for analysis of andrographolide in the serum of rats by HPLC and photodiode array detection was developed.
Andrographolide a diterpene lactone was extracted with acetone (4:1) and then analyzed using a RP-C18 lichrospher reversed phase column (4x125mm). A mobile phase consisting of 26% acetonitrile and 0.5% of phosphoric acid, at a flow rate of 1.1 mL/min, at 228 nm was used.
The percentage of recovery of andrographolide ranged between 70–80% and the absolute detection limit in serum was 6.4 ng.
