Abstract:
Blossom blight is one of the most harmful diseases of stone-fruits. Nevertheless, there is no a consensus among the researchers about the “entrance” of infection. Our investigations were carried out in a trial field at the Apricot Research Station, Silistra, Bulgaria. We obtained our first results in 1991, when the blossom blight was epiphytotically manifested. In field conditions we also observed the dynamics of the infection in 1995 in Japan. The definitive conclusion according the mechanism of penetration of the pathogen was made in 1997. Our results show that the pathogen can not penetrate through the forced pollinated pistil of emasculated flowers.
