Abstract:
The export of native bulbous plants started in the 1550's with tulip bulbs from Turkey and carried on in the 1850's from the Aegean region and at the end of that century, from the Taurus mountains to some European countries.
Especially after the 1970's the export had increased a great deal and reached 80 million in 1984. In order to preserve the nature in Turkey, some measurements were taken at the beginning of the 1980's and these measurements have been expanded since then.
As a result of these measurements the propagation activities were increased whilst the export have decreased down to 51 million in 1991. In this paper, the details of official measurements, propagation and educational activities are given.
