Abstract:
Asexual propagation of plant material by cuttage has been a horticultural practice for centuries.
Over the years various factors that affect root initiation and development have been discovered resulting in the development of treatments to promote rooting of difficult to root species.
This paper discusses factors that affect rooting and some of the practices that have been developed over the years to aid in the rooting of cuttings of woody plant material.
