ISHS Acta Horticulturae 212: Symposium on In Vitro Problems Related to Mass Propagation of Horticultural Plants

IN VITRO MULTIPLICATION OF CROCUS SATIVUS L.

Authors:   J. Homes, M. Legros, M. Jaziri
DOI:   10.17660/ActaHortic.1987.212.114
Abstract:
Saffron is a product of high commercial value (up to $5000/kg) (Allan et al. 1985) and in vitro propagation of this plant can be useful. The natural reproduction rate of new corms by conventional culture practice is quite low. Nevertheless, as for many other species, in vitro techniques can considerably improve the production of new corms in a much shorter time.
