Abstract:
This review provides perspectives on the current regulatory status of moringa (Moringa oleifera) products in selected countries and warrants caution against moringa retailers making false and unjustified health claims for their products.
Furthermore, the recent ban on the sale of moringa products in Brazil is discussed.
Lastly, clarification is given on a recent ruling in the European Union (EU) to not allow Moringa stenopetala, a different species from the family moringaceae, to be sold and classified as a Traditional Food.
Suggestions for appropriate labeling of moringa products and a realistic perspective on dosage, and subsequent potential benefit from such dosages, are provided.
