Abstract:
In the present study different degrees of pruning on leaf flushing and flowering of longan were investigated. 17-year-old 'Daw' lognan trees were studied at the Agricultural Technology Research Institute, Rajamangala University of Technology Lanna, Lampang province.
The experiment was designed based on CRD consisting of 5 treatments of pruning at 25, 50, 50% with leaf removal, 75 and 75% with leaf removal.
The results revealed that 75% pruning and 75% pruning with leaf removal caused the highest leaf shoot length at the 1st leaf flushing.
However, leaf numbers, shoot diameter, leaf width and leaf length were similar.
Pruning had no effect on the 2nd leaf flushing or leaf greenness.
Increasing pruning degree caused low flowering and higher leaf flushing after treatment with potassium chlorate (KClO3), while 25% pruning produced the highest flowering but the panicle lengths and diameter were similar.
