| Abstract:
The objective of this study is to evaluate the effect of the environmental conditions of the Cap Bon region in north Tunisia on the reproductive development of three avocado cultivars. Morphological observations were performed during the principal bud formation and flower development phases for 'Hass', 'Fuerte' and 'Bacon' cultivars, cultivated in the region of Cap Bon characterized by Cap Bon climate. Flower development and timing was dissimilar between the cultivars. 'Fuerte' flowering was more precocious than 'Bacon'. Seven analogous phases for each floral type were characterized during the dichogamous cycle. A significant correlation between temperature and light penetration and reproductive phenology was found. Results demonstrated that a light pruning increased precocity. In addition, 'Bacon' floral buds of branches more exposed to solar radiation, in the southeast side flowered 20 days before those situated in the less sunny parts of the tree. | |
