In order to establish sustainable tourism development, the guidelines covered basic activities, land use, and landscape management for agro-tourism which could be used by farmers and tourism related parties in improving their agro-tourism business.
However, many agro-tourism owners run their businesses without adequate knowledge to arrange proper agro-tourism land use and it’s activities and their physical settings.
To increase agro-tourism standard of Saraburi, Thailand, the implementation of 13 design guidelines under 7 agro-tourism standards were used on the design of Subsanoon visitor center.
These guidelines included zoning, carrying capacity, activities to create income for the community, garbage management, energy efficiency management, security, diversity of activity for niche market, activity for community participation, provision of facilities, impressive landscape, accessibility, community cultural activity for tourists, and agricultural education activity.
These 13 guidelines were imprinted in 6 landscape design guidelines: 1) land use or zoning, 2) energy saving, 3) facilities and services, 4) safety, 5) agricultural esthetics, and 6) accessibility.
These guidelines are applicable for the villagers on their farms and community.
The basic land use comprises of 9 zones: tourist service, home stay, farm service, office or farm shop, crop or animal farm, production and processing, owner’s residence, circulation, and zone for future development.
