The cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP) in fruits, flowers and leaves of 105 Chinese jujube (Ziziphus jujuba Mill.) cultivars was determined with the HPLC method.
The cAMP contents showed a wide variation in mature fruits between cultivars ranging from 43.02 to 429.22 µg/g, and 69.5% cultivars had over 200 µg/g with the highest cAMP content of fruits in ‘Chuanlingzao’. Of different organs, leaves had the highest cAMP content and there was no cAMP detected in flowers.
During ripening, the highest content of cAMP in fruits occurred at the mature stage.
The results indicate that Chinese jujube leaves and mature fruits are good resources of cAMP. This study provides important information for efficient and effective processing of this resource.
