Abstract:
The Balkans area, called South-Eastern Europe is the area where, due to geographical position, many horticultural crops can be grown. This review intends to know more about the objectives and results of pome fruit breeding in this area. In the last 20 years, many of the Balkan countries faced financial difficulties, and the number of developed breeding programs decreased. However, significant results are evidenced by obtaining and registering about 50 apple cvs. and 30 pear cvs.
