Abstract:
The foreign trade of most of the smaller East European countries is widespreading and active.
That is true also for the Hungarian one.
The Hungarian agricultural foreign trade is well specialized in meat and horticultural products.
Sooner most of the meat products was traded in western, most of the horticultural ones in eastern countries.
The main western foreign trade partners of Hungary are EEC member countries.
The import restrictions following the oil crisis hit the Hungarian meat export.
The horticultural export has had to face already sooner the strict and discriminative EEC import regulations.
The present situation is not better even worse than it sooner was.
The Hungarian agricultural and horticultural foreign trade could be much more active with respect to EEC and other western countries if their trade conditions were more advantageous for Eastern Europe.
