RESIDUES OF TRIAZINE HERBICIDES IN VEGETABLE DRUGS

Authors:   D. Ennet, F. Pank
Abstract:
The use of the triazine herbicides Desmetryn, Prometryn, Propazin and Simazin is of great importance in the medicinal plant cultivation in the GDR. It is the aim of the investigations, to assess the residues in the crops used as drugs and health care agents from toxicological aspects and to prepare a legal regulation of residue problems in the Pharmacopeia of the GDR. A semiquantitative thinlayer chromatographic method and a quantitative gas-chromatographic procedure is described to determine the residues of triazine herbicides. On the basis of the calculation of "theoretically" maximum acceptable residue amounts and of the results of the residue-determinations in several samples it is suggested, to provide the maximum acceptable residue amount for triazine herbicides at 2 mg/kg dried vegetable drug.
