Abstract:
The activity of the plant extracts had been proved previously as well as cytostatic preparations and some natural products investigated by means of the Allium and Lepidium test.
There was observed a correlation between the effect of investigated drugs on test plants and their therapeutic doses.
Cytostatic preparations caused a high inhibition of the Lepidium and Allium root growth.
The extracts of Herba Meliloti, Radix Primulae, Folium Urticae showed also inhibition of root growth of both test plants.
The extracts from Herba Hyperici, Folium Betulae, and selected Cladonia XII exerted a great inhibition of Allium cepa root growth, but for Lepidium they were not toxic.
Obtained results showed that the Allium test may be used for screening of the antimitotic activity whereas the Lepidium test for preliminary determination of the toxicity.
