Abstract:
The roots of wild grown and cultivated Gentiana lutea a were compared in their content of valuable compounds.
Wild grown as well as at 1100 m NN cultivated plants reached twice the content of bitter substances than plants grown at 420 m NN. No difference could be confirmed in the sugar content.
The ecotypes investigated differed from each other in their content of amarogentin and sugars as well.
Essential oil was found in traces only.
