Abstract:
New hybrid cultivars were developed as a result of hybridization of the best Soviet and Bulgarian S. sclarea L. cultivars.
The most promising of them were included in comparative field trials and their biological and economic characters were assessed.
Chemical analysis and organoleptic tests of the essential oil obtained from fresh flowers were performed.
The best two cultivars were included in production trials and extention.
Cv.
Zarya is medium early and is remarkable for its high essential oil content /0.24% or 4.512 kg/dka on the average/ and very high linalylacetate content /78 %/, Because of its fine delicate aroma it wins high evaluation.
The cultivar is suitable for mechanized cultivation.
Cv.
Lazour is late, cold resistant and is continuously blooming.
The essential oil is characterized by a fine and tender aroma and high content in the fresh flowers /0.23 % or 4.246 kg/dka on the average/. Linalylacetate content is 73 %.
Due to their valuable characters and particularly to the combination of high quality and high yield of essential oil the new S. sclarea cultivars /Zarya and Lazour/ are presented for extention in agricultural production.
