EXPERIMENTS ON THE PRODUCTION OF VIRUS FREE RASPBERRY PROPAGATION MATERIAL BY MERISTEM CULTURE

Author:   J. Vértesy
Abstract:
Shoot tip meristem culture of raspberries was started with the purpose of eliminating heat stable viruses. Shoot tips of stratified and forced raspberry roots were collected, disinfected in a chloramine solution, and meristem tips with 1–2 leaf primordia cut out and placed in an agargel medium containing macroelements of Morel, micro-elements of Heller, several B vitamins at 1 ppm, myoinositol 100 mg/l, glucose 2–3% and IBA at 0.1 ppm. Rooting was induced using the same medium with a lowered auxin concentration. Rooted plantlets could be dissected for further propagation or transplanted to soil.
