| Abstract:
Both black currant reversion and its vector Cecidophyopsis ribis (Westw.) are common in Finland up to the 66°N latitude. At least two different strains of the reversion virus occur. A virulent strain causes severe leaf and flower symptoms in black currant. Eriophyid gall mites as well as symptoms of reversion were observed on wild plants of Ribes alpinum and R. spicatum. The reversion virus was also graft transmitted from these plants to black currants. Besides C. ribis, another mite species, C. selachodon (van Eyndhoven, 1967) occurs on R. spicatum causing bud galls on it. | |
