Abstract:
The most common viruses isolated from maraska are ILAR viruses - necrotic ringspot virus (NRV) and prune dwarf virus (PDV). NEPO viruses - Arabis mosaic virus and strawberry latent ringspot virus are less frequent, while cucumber mosaic virus and sowbane mosaic virus occur sporadically.
In the last two years a new bud-and graft-transmissible diseases has broken out in the maraska nurseries in Opuzen.
Blisters on the bark and necrotic spots in the phloem appear in the autumn after budding.
In the following spring some leaves show chlorotic mottling which soon turns yellow with rusty spots.
Leaves with symptoms soon fall.
Only PDV and NRV have been isolated from these plants.
