Abstract:
The woody indicators previously used and tested in Hungary have been unsatisfactory for the detection of plum pox infection in mother trees.
The new GF 31 indicator was tested by the authors and was found to respond reliably within a year to Sharka isolates from plum, peach and apricot trees.
It is recommended as a new and reliable indicator.
The Sharka infected symptom display GF 31 indicators were then tested by the serological ELISA testing method.
The results indicate that such tests are influenced by the time of sampling, the age of leaves and the location of leaves on the tree.
