ISHS Acta Horticulturae 93: Symposium on Quality of Vegetables

THE EFFECTS OF SOME EXOGENOUS AND ENDOGENOUS FACTORS ON THE ACCUMULATION OF NITRATE IONS BY CARROT ROOT.

Authors:   D. BLANC, S. MARS, C. OTTO
Abstract:
This paper deals with the effects of different parameters involved in plant nitrogen nutrition, on the nitrate content in the carrot root. Level and forms of mineral nitrogen supply, light intensity, activity of leaves have been taken in account in factorial experiments. The effect of internal factors such as stage of development and varietal comportment has been tested. Results are discussed with a view to the improvement of the quality of root production with respect to their nitrate content.
