Abstract:
The effect of osmotic conditioning of Antirrhinum seeds, with polyethylene glycol 6000/PEG/ and GA3 used in combination with osmotic conditioning, on their germination was studied.
The osmotic conditioning with PEG at -10.0 or -8.0 bars for 14 days at 15°C improved seed germination at 15°C. The gibberellin may be useful only when used during or infused into seeds via acetone before osmotic conditioning.
GA3 had no effect when applied after osmotic conditioning and it inhibited germination of unconditioned seeds.
