Abstract:
The effects of growth regulating chemicals: BA, MH, ethephon, morphactin and IBA on development of structural shoots in budded rose plants were examined in a nursery, using the cultivars: "Carla", "Lagerfeuer", "King's Ransom" and "Wiener Charme". The greatest number of basal shoots were produced by the shrubs treated with ethephon in concentration of 1000 or 2000 ppm.
Morphactin increased shoot development but often inhibited the plant growth and caused some shoot deformations.
MH and BA were less effective alone, but the use of BA in conjunction with IBA, applied ten days later, produced noticeable effects.
