Abstract:
Production of both CO2 and ethylene and petal senescence were accelerated by uptake of 4, 20, and 100 mg 2, 4-D/1, compared to water controls. 500 mg 2, 4-D/1 suppressed CO2 and ethylene evolution and retarded senescence.
Although 500 mg 2, 4-D/1 protected against senescence of petals, stem and gynaecium tissues were adversely affected by the same concentration.
