Abstract:
The effects of 5-weeks dry storage at 0–1°C and treatment before cold storage with growth regulators on quality and vase-life of tight carnation buds were investigated.
Dry storage of tight carnation buds for 5 weeks resulted in flowers of good quality and longevity.
Gibberellic acid treatment accelerated stored buds' opening and increased the diameters of fully open flowers.
The mixture of 5 mg/l benzyladenine with 20 mg/l of naphthaleneacetic acid caused acceleration of buds opening after storage, increased the diameters of fully open flowers and their longevity.
Treatment with low concentrations of ethephon hastened the buds opening after storage.
