Abstract:
The Central Science Laboratory (CSL) provides the largest and most comprehensive pest and disease identification services in the UK, and includes diagnostic testing for viruses, viroids and phytoplasmas.
The identification of pathogens that threaten ornamental plants has become more important due to the increased globalization of trade over the last 10 years.
In 2007, ornamentals accounted for more than 50% of the plant samples tested for viruses, totalling over 2,500.
In this paper, we provide a summary of viruses, viroids and phytoplasmas identified by CSL over a 9-year period and highlight in more detail some of the most significant.
