APPLYING NITROGEN TO FRUIT TREES THROUGH TRICKLE IRRIGATION SYSTEMS |

| Abstract:
Nitrogen fertilizers were applied to apple, cherry, peach and plum trees through the trickle irrigation systems. Applications were made during June in 4 equal amounts to total 100, 50, and 25% of grower practice. Assaying response by use of leaf analysis indicated that the amount of nitrogen used could be reduced to 50% of grower practice. A proper amount of water applied resulted in uniform nitrogen throughout the tree when one emitter per tree was used. Less water resulted in higher nitrogen on the emitter side. More water resulted in lower leaf nitrogen. | |
