Abstract:
Trials were carried out in the Netherlands in order to investigate the phytotoxical effects of two bactericides (copper oxychloride and streptomycin) on a range of host plants of Erwinia amylovora.
In several trials a range of dosages of both compounds was used to determine the concentration at which no visible damage could be detected in the plants when sprayed repeatedly.
In other trials the influence of regular sprays with a fixed dosage was investigated.
Copper oxychloride caused leaf yellowing, leaf scorching followed by early leaf drop, growth reduction and heavy russeting in a number of cultivars of several genera.
Several cultivars were not damaged.
Streptomycin rarely produced signs of phytotoxicity.
