RATIONAL FERTILISATION OF APPRICOT TREES ON THE BASIS OF LEAF DIAGNOSIS

Abstract:
Its scarce and fluctuating average crop (2.5 ton/ha) makes apricot production rather umprofitable in Hungary. A due consideration of reasons causing this anomaly will present numerous factors responsible for it. Authors' investigations since 1967 seem to point out insufficiency of nutrients as primary cause (1, 2).

Leaf diagnosis helped to establish that the uneven - and small crop of apricot plantations is to be blamed first of all on the disharmony of nitrogen and potassium supply.

In a plantation of 200 ha there was an attempt made to establish a favourable nitrogen-potassium balance in the -- leaves of apricot trees through an abundat potassium fertilisation of the soil. The examinations led to the results as follows:
