Abstract:
The production of chestnut at Miyun County in Beijing was in condition of intensive cultivation. The cultivation contained some important point including planting density, mode of prune, fertilizer and irrigation. In the study, we developed cultivation techniques of compactly planted chestnut for early fruiting and high yield. The suitable planting density was 1245 trees/ha. The type of tree was natural opening. The height of the main trunk was 20-40 cm with 4-7 main stems. The suitable fertilizer was 3735 kg/ha. The optimum irrigation was in winter and spring, the irrigation volume was 600-1200 m3/ha. Under these planting measures, the yield and quality of chestnut were improved effectively.
