Abstract:
One of the most important contributing factors to seasonality of tomato production in the Sudan is the high temperature during the summer months (35–45°C). Beside the environment (modifying approaches), the development of high temperature tolerant cultivars will contribute tremendously to the solution of this problem.
Various tomato cultivars were screened for high temperature emergence using an uncooled glasshouse chamber with an average daily temperature range of 37–42°C.
Significant differences in emergence capacity at high temperature were found among the cultivars used.
