Abstract:
Intact florets of the tested seed lots were partly dormant at constant germination temperatures from 10° to 35°C both in light and in darkness.
Germination at the constant temperatures of 24° to 27°C was significantly stimulated by following treatments: moist chilling in light, mechanical injury to the caryopsis, red light given during the two first days of imbibition, three 2 h periods at 12°C given during the first days of imbibition, gibberellic acid, ethylene, potassium cyanide, sodium nitrite, hydrogen peroxide, increased O2-tension, and imbibition in aerated water for four days.
