Abstract:
The essential oil of Cistus ladanifer has been subjected to a series of GC investigations (GC-FID, GC-MS, enantio-GC) in order to integrate the already existing information on the chemical composition of the oil.
In particular, an innovative GC-MS library that collects spectra derived from the flavour and fragrance field has been used for GC-MS peak assignment.
Results obtained showed that the most abundant compounds were monoterpenes ( -pinene, camphene), decreasingly followed by oxygenated monoterpenes (cis- and trans-pinocamphone), sesquiterpenes ( -copaene), aromatics (p-cymene), oxygenated sesquiterpenes and traces of carbonylic compounds.
Also, the enantiomeric distribution of chiral compounds was successfully determined for six pairs, and data are reported here for the first time.
