Abstract:
This study was conducted to select promising cornelian cherry (Cornus mas L.) genotypes in Çorum (İskilip and Gümüşhacıköy) situated in the North Anatolia Region. The whole population consisting of native seedling trees was examined with respect to fruit characteristics for one year. Among the genotypes, seven genotypes were selected for industrial and fresh consuming. Based on mean values of one year, promising selections had 2.80-3.85 g fruit weight, 2.25-3.25 g fruit flesh weight, 4.34-5.74 mm flesh thickness, 5.16-7.84 flesh/seed rate, 2.82-3.13 pH, 14.5-20.0% total soluble solids (TSS) and 2.47-5.69% titrable acidity. The cornelian cherry genotypes selected during one year were considered promising for industrial and fresh consuming. The selected genotypes will be examined again next year.
