Abstract:
This sweet cherry trial was carried out at the Horticulture Faculty of MUAF in Lednice, to study the possible consequences of using spindle and 'Spanish bush' growing systems on three of the rootstocks, which are Czech selections of P. avium ('P-TU-1'), ‘Colt’ and ‘Gisela 5’. The ‘Kordia’ and ‘Burlat’ cultivars were chosen, because they were very common in out-plantings.
Foliar analysis was used to measure the levels of the following mineral elements: nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, calcium and magnesium.
Some differences between rootstocks were discovered in the uptake of calcium, potassium and magnesium.
Differences between the spindle and 'Spanish bush' systems were seen in the uptake of calcium, magnesium and potassium.
