Abstract:
The effect of BA (2 and 4 mg/L) plus GA3 (2 mg/L) and ΙΒΑ (0 and 1 mg/L) on organogenesis from green globular bodies derived from root segments of the Citrus rootstock Poncirus trifoliata was studied.
The plant material, grown in the MS medium, was divided in three categories; apical, middle and basic part of the root.
When eight weeks in culture elapsed, shoot proliferation was observed in all treatments.
The highest percentage of shoots formation (80%) and the maximum number of shoots was found on medium containing 2 mg/L GA3 and 2 mg/L ΒΑ and with plant material obtained from the basic part of the root.
An increase in the height of shoots was observed in the same treatment (2 mg/L GA3 and 2 mg/L ΒΑ) when middle parts of the root were used as explants.
