Abstract:
An expedition study of local plant resources of Сerasus genus was conducted in the region of the Central Balkan Mountains. A large set of forms and varieties was found. Seven forms were selected and studied more thoroughly. Their fruits ripened in the second half of June. They were coloured in red to dark sour cherry black for No.3-M, 5-J and 7-J. Dry matter varied from 11.0 tо 25,5%. Total sugar was 8,95 tо 21,50 mg%. Inverted sugar had the largest share in the total sugars. The most significant differences were found in anthocyanin content of the fruits: 4,68 tо 376,45 mg%. The fruits were 2,4 g to 3,9 g in weight. The selected trees were distinguished for good fertility.
