| Abstract:
In mainland Spain mangoes under plastic occupy about 15 ha of a total of near 1.500 ha. Growth and cropping in both environments are compared. Air temperature, incidence of Pseudomonas syringae and Oidium mangiferae, fruit colour, yield, cost of production and fruit prices are discussed. Mango production under plastic can be profitable due to earlier ripening. Good ventilation is essential, otherwise high air temperature can drastically reduce yields. | |
