Authors:   R.A.J. White, D.J. Brundell
Abstract:
Experiments made with New Zealand sphagnum peat in order to develop recommendations for tomato culture in peat modules are described. Modules containing 40 to 50 1 of peat for growing four tomato plants are recommended, with the following base fertilizers: 10 kg dolomite lime, 0.47 kg calcium nitrate, 1.27 kg potassium nitrate, 4 kg serpentine superphosphate, 0.77 kg magnesium sulphate, 14 g borax, 25 g copper sulphate, 41 g iron sulphate, 41 g iron chelate, 17 g manganese sulphate, 17 g zinc sulphate and 3 g sodium molybdate per m3 of peat. Daily liquid feeding with 150–200 ppm N and 240–340 ppm K is recommended and some P liquid feeding will also be necessary.
