Abstract:
In the spring 2001, nine sweet cherry cultivars – ‘Nalina’, ‘B. Burlat’, ‘Summit’, ‘Sunburst’, ‘Lapins’, ‘Kordia’, ‘Regina’, ‘Katalin’, and ‘Hudson’ on Gisela 5 rootstock were planted.
The control was ‘B. Burlat’ on P. mahaleb. The cultivars on Gisela 5 in comparison with the control exhibited a higher density of flower buds and spurs.
Therefore it was concluded that Gisela 5 has a higher reproductive potential than the P. mahaleb rootstock.
