Abstract:
In order to obtain new pear varieties with red colored fruit, in 1984, at the Romanian Research Institute for Fruit Growing, a breeding program was started using some old autochthonous varieties as parents.
This paper presents the first data as a result of the cross between a commercial white-fleshed cv. (‘Napoca’) and a red flesh native male genitor (‘Cu miezul roşu’) as well as some offspring with fruits of red skin and flesh.
