MANAGEMENT OF TYLCD USING NON-WOVEN ROW COVERS AND ACIBENZOLAR-S-METHYL IN GREENHOUSE TOMATOES

Authors:   A. Sirigu, M. Nannini
Keywords:   plant activator, systemic acquired resistance, Bion, control strategies
Abstract:
The effectiveness of alternative strategies for TYLCD management was investigated in two preliminary experiments carried out on tomato commercial crops. In 2005 the effects of four acibenzolar-S-methyl post transplant applications were evaluated. In the second month after planting the trial evidenced a 21-28% reduction of TYLCD incidence in the treated plots with respect to the control plots. In 2006 the use of a non-woven fabric to cover plant rows for a period of 2-3 weeks from planting date was tested. Covered plots showed a significantly lower incidence of the disease than uncovered ones.
